Zomato to Pay ₹9.85 Crore to West Bengal GST Authorities

On August 12, Zomato received a formal adjudication order from the tax authorities in West Bengal. This order concerns the period from April 2020 to March 2021 and involves a demand for GST payments, penalties, and non-payment of GST on delivery charges. Despite Zomato's belief that they have a strong legal argument, the company has stated that it will comply and pay the required amounts to the GST authorities. Notably, this is the second time Zomato has received a GST notice from West Bengal.
