The swearing-in of Narendra Modi for a historic third consecutive term as Prime Minister of India sends a clear message of political and economic stability amidst increasing global uncertainty, according to the US India Business Council (USIBC). Atul Keshap, President of USIBC, emphasized the significance of this event, highlighting India’s enduring commitment to growth and stability.

On Sunday, Narendra Modi took the oath as Prime Minister for his third term, leading the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government with a 72-member Union Council of Ministers. Keshap praised the Indian electorate for supporting Modi’s pro-growth policies, which have positioned India as a significant player in global democracy, prosperity, and technological advancement, strengthening its partnership with the United States.

Keshap stated, "The Indian electorate has once again shown its support for policies that promote economic growth, solidifying India's role as a key pillar of democracy, prosperity, and technological innovation. This continuity is vital amidst increasing geostrategic uncertainty," in an interview with PTI after the swearing-in ceremony.

Ronak D Desai, a partner at the Paul Hastings law firm and a prominent India practitioner, shared similar sentiments. Desai highlighted that a third term for Modi ensures continued momentum in US-India relations, signaling a strong and lasting bilateral partnership. Desai emphasized the bipartisan support for US-India relations in both Washington and New Delhi, guaranteeing the resilience of this partnership despite any political changes. Under Modi’s leadership, the US-India relationship is expected to maintain its positive trajectory, driven by shared interests and values.

In another statement, the Foundation for India and Indian Diaspora Studies (FIIDS) expressed optimism about India’s future under Modi’s leadership. FIIDS anticipates India’s continued progress towards becoming the third-largest economy and a significant global power, leading both the global east and the global south. Khanderao Kand, President and Chief of Policies and Strategy at FIIDS, said, "We look forward to witnessing India's advancement towards becoming a global economic powerhouse under Modi’s leadership."

Kand also highlighted the expected continuation of several key infrastructural initiatives during Modi’s third term, such as Make In India, Digital India, Startup India, Clean India, and Sagarmala, as well as efforts to extend electricity and development to remote tribal villages. These programs are anticipated to uplift the entire Indian population and drive significant economic growth.

Overall, Modi’s third term is viewed as a symbol of stability and continuity in India’s domestic and international policies. The strong electoral mandate not only reaffirms Modi’s leadership but also enhances India’s position as a dependable and influential partner on the global stage. As India enters this new phase, maintaining focus on economic growth, technological innovation, and robust bilateral relations with the United States will be crucial for navigating global complexities.
