"Two artificial intelligence news anchors from DD Kisan are ready for their debut."

Doordarshan's agricultural channel, DD Kisan, is stepping into the future by introducing two AI anchors, AI Krish and AI Bhoomi. These virtual presenters will revolutionize the dissemination of farmer-centric news, equipped to communicate in a staggering 50 Indian and global languages. The Ministry of Agriculture heralds this move as groundbreaking, positioning DD Kisan as the pioneer in state-backed television channels to adopt AI anchors.

In a statement, an official from the Ministry of Agriculture emphasized the AI anchors' ability to tirelessly deliver news, functioning around the clock without fatigue. Covering regions from Kashmir to Tamil Nadu and Gujarat to Arunachal, AI Krish and AI Bhoomi will not only report on agricultural research developments but also provide crucial updates on weather patterns, trends in agricultural markets, and information regarding government schemes.

This development aligns with a broader trend of Indian media channels incorporating AI into their operations. From Odisha TV's Lisa to Aaj Tak's Sana, and News18 Punjab Haryana's AI Kaur, the use of AI anchors is gaining traction across the nation. Despite the benefits, such as continuous operation and potentially lower costs, concerns linger regarding job displacement and occasional glitches in AI models, impacting viewer experience.

The government's endorsement of AI extends beyond media, evidenced by initiatives like the IndiaAI Mission and the BHASHINI translation platform. With an increased budget allocation and a focus on fostering innovation, the government aims to nurture a robust GenAI ecosystem. Additionally, regulatory measures are being considered by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to ensure responsible AI deployment without stifling innovation. This commitment underscores the anticipated growth of India's GenAI market, forecasted to reach $17 billion by 2030.
