The Union cabinet approves funding of Rs. 10,371 crore for the IndiaAI Mission.

The Union Cabinet has approved an ambitious initiative known as the IndiaAI Mission, with a budget allocation of Rs. 10,371 crore. This mission is aimed at strengthening India's innovation ecosystem, guided by the principles of 'Making AI in India' and 'Making AI Work for India'. Its objective is to demonstrate the positive societal impacts of AI technology on a global scale, thereby enhancing India's competitive advantage. The approved budget, spread over the next five years, will support various components of the IndiaAI Mission.

Key Components of the IndiaAI Mission:

1. IndiaAI Compute Capacity: This initiative aims to establish a robust AI computing infrastructure by deploying over 10,000 GPUs through strategic partnerships, democratizing computing access and offering AI services to innovators.

2. IndiaAI Innovation Centre: This center will focus on developing indigenous AI models for critical sectors, enhancing technological self-reliance.

3. IndiaAI Datasets Platform: A unified platform will be developed to provide quality non-personal datasets, fostering AI innovation among startups and researchers.

4. IndiaAI Application Development Initiative: Promoting AI applications in various sectors sourced from governmental institutions, with the aim of socio-economic transformation.

5. IndiaAI FutureSkills: Expanding AI education accessibility by increasing the availability of AI courses and establishing Data and AI Labs across Indian cities, including Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

6. IndiaAI Startup Financing: Providing streamlined funding access to deep-tech AI startups to enable futuristic AI projects.

7. Safe & Trusted AI: Implementing Responsible AI projects to ensure ethical and responsible AI deployment, including developing indigenous tools and governance frameworks.

The IndiaAI Mission will be executed by the 'IndiaAI' Independent Business Division under the Digital India Corporation. Its goals include driving innovation, creating highly skilled employment opportunities, and ensuring India's technological sovereignty. By showcasing AI's potential for societal good, it aims to elevate India's global competitiveness.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India, expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for approving over 10,000 crores for the IndiaAI program. He highlighted the significance of AI in India's digital economy and its potential to benefit states like Kerala by fostering a robust tech environment and turning aspirations into reality for young Indians.
