Bhubaneswar: The MSME Department, Government of Odisha, organized STARTUP UTSAVV 2024 through its initiative, Startup Odisha. The event, dedicated to celebrating innovation and entrepreneurship, brought together industry leaders, government officials, startups, incubators, academic institutions, mentors, and other ecosystem stakeholders.
Eminent dignitaries, including Shri Pratap Keshari Deb, Hon’ble Minister of Industry, Energy, and MSME; Shri Subroto Bagchi, Chief Advisor Govt. Odisha (Institutional Capacity Building); and Dr. Omkar Rai, Executive Chairman, Startup Odisha, graced the event. Notable participants included top student innovators, women entrepreneurs, winners of the Millet Innovation challenge, and the top 20 startups of Fundstack 3.0.
The event highlighted a felicitation ceremony, recognizing outstanding contributions in various categories. Noteworthy winners included KIIT Technology Business Incubator, AIC- Nalanda Institute of Technology, and DBT ILS Bio incubator. Startup accolades went to Newrup Tech Solutions, Aurassure Private Limited, and BookingJini.
Strategic alliances were formed with industry giants like National Research Development Corporation, Indian Steps & Business Incubators Associations, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and the National Innovation Foundation through Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs). Additionally, Startup Odisha and SIDBI exchanged an agreement for the SIDBI Seed Fund Programme.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik emphasized the state's commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship through initiatives like Odisha Startup Yatra and Odisha Startup Xpress. The event celebrated the achievements of over 1800 recognized startups, including 700 women-led ventures, with impressive external funding of Rs 500 Crores.
Hon’ble Minister MSME, Shri Pratap Keshari Deb, encouraged the youth to embrace entrepreneurship, while Dr. Omkar Rai highlighted the success of Odisha’s startup ecosystem as a foundation for future strides.
The Ask Me Anything session with Shri Subroto Bagchi focused on real problem solutions, the importance of women entrepreneurs, and insights on scaling businesses. The event also launched Startup Yatra Booklets for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Various sessions, including a Masterclass on Design Thinking, insights on the Role of Academic Institutions & Incubators, and expertise sharing on Innovation and Intellectual Property, enriched the event. Success stories from notable startups in Odisha concluded the day, highlighting the remarkable journey from the Startup Mela last year to the 2023 accomplishments.
