In Balangir, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commended Jayanti Mahapatra and Biren Sahu during his 'Mann Ki Baat' program for their innovative agri-tech startup located in the remote Salebhata village. The couple, who left their lucrative corporate jobs in 2017, initiated a community-centred goat rearing farm, involving locals who previously migrated for work. Modi highlighted their service-oriented approach, mentioning their establishment of a goat bank where farmers receive two goats for 24 months, resulting in significant offspring. This initiative has now connected 1,000 farmers from 50 villages. Expressing gratitude, Jayanti thanked the PM for acknowledging their endeavour, emphasising the diverse products they offer such as goat manure, milk, and ghee, which are distributed nationwide. She noted that their startup's model draws inspiration from Dr. Nambikar of Satara district, Maharashtra.
