Roche Information Solutions India is becoming an important technology hub for the Swiss healthcare giant Roche, as the company increasingly focuses on gaining a digital edge for its products and services. Roche, a 125-year-old Switzerland-based company with a strong emphasis on pharmaceuticals and diagnostics, is now leveraging technology to stay at the forefront of innovation, with India playing a crucial role. In 2017, Roche acquired the US-based startup Viewics, which had its engineering center in Pune, and transformed it into Roche Information Solutions India Pvt Ltd. By 2021, this center was upgraded into a global capability center, collaborating with Roche’s engineering and technology hubs in Spain, Austria, Poland, and Malaysia to develop cutting-edge digital products. According to Raja Jamalamadaka, Managing Director of Roche Information Solutions India, Pune is the only location globally where Roche has so many functions co-located. In a conversation with EnterpriseStory, Jamalamadaka discusses the strides Roche Information Solutions has made over the past two and a half years in India, as well as its success in attracting and developing talent, thereby enriching the country's healthcare technology ecosystem.
