The IndiaAI Mission will provide supercomputing capacity with over 10,000 GPUs to support the development of an AI ecosystem. The Indian government has invited bids for entities to offer cloud-based AI services as part of this ₹10,372-crore mission, approved by the cabinet in March. Selected agencies, including data centers and cloud service providers, will need to provide access to advanced AI infrastructure like GPUs, accelerators, TPUs, and storage to academia, startups, researchers, and government bodies at competitive rates determined through bidding.
The IndiaAI Mission aims to empower stakeholders by providing them with high-speed computing resources. The empaneled service providers will supply the necessary computing power, networking, and storage to support initiatives like developing indigenous large language models (LLMs) and AI applications. The empanelment will last for 36 months, with potential extensions based on mutually agreed terms. IndiaAI will oversee the approval of end users who can access these services, ensuring they are offered at fair and competitive prices.
