Snowflake, a leading data cloud provider, and Mistral AI, a European AI startup, have formed a global partnership to offer Mistral AI's advanced language models directly to Snowflake customers within the Data Cloud. This collaboration, supported by an investment from Snowflake Ventures in Mistral's Series A, emphasizes delivering enterprises seamless access to large language models while prioritizing security, privacy, and data governance.Under this partnership, Snowflake customers can now utilize Mistral AI's latest LLM, Mistral Large, through the Snowflake Data Cloud. Additionally, Snowflake customers gain access to Mixtral 8x7B, an open-source model surpassing OpenAI's GPT3.5 in both speed and quality on various benchmarks, as well as Mistral 7B, a foundational model optimized for minimal latency, memory requirements, and high throughput.

Recently, Snowflake announced the appointment of Sridhar Ramaswamy as the new Chief Executive Officer and member of the Board of Directors, succeeding Frank Slootman, who decided to retire from the company. Ramaswamy, an alumnus of IIT Madras, joined Snowflake in May 2023 following the acquisition of his startup Neeva AI. He previously served as Senior Vice President of AI at Snowflake.
