SBI organises a cyclothon to raise environmental awareness.




The State Bank of India (SBI) Hyderabad Circle organized a Cyclothon at PV Gyan Bhoomi, Necklace Road, Hyderabad, aimed at promoting sustainability initiatives among its staff. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the 2023 batch of probationary officers and senior officials. The theme, "Pedal for the Planet," emphasized the importance of caring for the environment and ensuring a sustainable future.

Sri Rajesh Kumar, the Chief General Manager of the Hyderabad Circle, along with other senior executives, officially commenced the event. According to a media release from the bank, Rajesh Kumar highlighted SBI's commitment to supporting India's journey towards sustainability across various sectors such as agriculture, industry, infrastructure, education, and science and technology. He stressed the importance of instilling a culture of sustainability in the new officers, which was the motivation behind the cyclothon activity.

Rajesh Kumar also mentioned that to reduce carbon footprints, the Hyderabad Circle is actively involved in enhancing the generation of renewable energy and increasing efforts towards carbon offsetting. He emphasized that SBI aspires to be a leader in climate finance, with a goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2055, coinciding with the bank's centenary year.
