Proton plans to manufacture cars in Bangladesh by the conclusion of 2024.

Rancon aims to commence domestic manufacturing of Proton cars in Bangladesh with a $100 million investment. They unveiled the Proton X90 hybrid vehicle in the Bangladeshi market in collaboration with Proton Holdings. During the launch event, Rancon and Proton also announced their joint plans to start local production of Proton vehicles in Bangladesh by the end of the current year.

The Proton X90 features a 48V mild hybrid system and a 1.5L turbocharged engine developed in partnership with Volvo. It is available in two variants: the 6-seater Flagship and the 7-seater Premium, priced at Taka 49.90 lakh and Taka 45.90 lakh respectively. These vehicles will be sold at Rancon's showrooms in Dhaka and Chattogram.

Dr. Li Chunrong, CEO of Proton, disclosed that Rancon will establish a sales and after-sales network and invest in a manufacturing facility for Proton vehicles in Bangladesh. He expressed the ambition to become a significant player in Bangladesh's automotive market with their upcoming product lineup.

Romo Rouf Chowdhury, Group Managing Director of Rancon Holdings Limited, mentioned that a $100 million investment has been allocated for Rancon's own industrial park, aiming to commence local production of Proton vehicles by the end of 2024 to lower retail prices.

According to a press release, Rancon will provide a five-year warranty or 150,000 km coverage (whichever comes first), along with six complimentary after-sales services. Additionally, they assure authorized after-sales service and availability of genuine spare parts through their service centers in Dhaka and Chattogram.
