Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the remarkable growth of India's startup ecosystem, attributing it to the innovative drive of the country's youth. Speaking at the 'Startup Mahakumbh' held at Bharat Mandapam on the third day, he emphasized the significance of the event, especially as India charts its path towards becoming a developed nation by 2047. Mr. Modi noted the significant progress witnessed in the IT and software sector over the past decade and highlighted the emerging trend of innovation and startup culture in the country.
He praised the Startup India initiative for providing a platform for innovative ideas and facilitating their connection with funding opportunities. Mr. Modi commended India's youth for embracing entrepreneurship and choosing to become job creators rather than job seekers. Currently, India boasts over 1.25 lakh startups and 110 unicorns, a testament to the thriving startup revolution led by youth from small towns across the nation.
The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction at the diversification of startups into various sectors such as agriculture, textile, medicine, transport, space, yoga, and Ayurveda. Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, underscored the crucial role startups play in realizing India's vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
