Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, marking 10 years of the 'Make in India' initiative, highlighted a significant decline in mobile imports by nearly 85% since its launch. In a social media post on Wednesday, the minister noted that India's mobile imports, which stood at Rs 48,609 crore in 2014-15, had dropped to Rs 7,665 crore by 2023-24. He also emphasized a 200% rise in manufacturing jobs between 2022 and 2024, and stated that 99% of mobile phones in the country are now domestically produced.
