Peak XV, the venture capital firm that separated from Sequoia Capital in the previous year, is arranging a trip to Silicon Valley this week for its portfolio companies hailing from India, Southeast Asia, and Australia. The purpose of this "immersion" trip is to facilitate meetings with prominent figures in the industry and broaden networking opportunities. Approximately 60 founders, primarily supported by Peak XV's Surge program, will be accompanied by firm partners to engage with industry leaders and visit AI research facilities. The itinerary includes strategy sessions with executives from companies such as OpenAI and Nvidia, as well as talks from experienced professionals like Umesh Sachdev from Uniphore and Gokul Rajaram, an advisor at DoorDash. This initiative, internally known as "Immersion Week," underscores Peak XV's expansion beyond mere financial investment, as venture investors vie for access to the most promising AI startups worldwide. In India, where the deeptech and AI startup landscape is still developing, ventures are increasingly focusing on expanding their capabilities and reaching overseas markets. This trip is seen as valuable for startups in India, providing opportunities to explore new avenues and potential partnerships abroad. One notable example is Sarvam AI, which secured significant funding led by Peak XV and Lightspeed India, along with a recent partnership with Microsoft.
