After a long wait, OpenAI has started rolling out its much-anticipated Advanced Voice feature to all Plus and Team users of the ChatGPT app. The rollout will take about a week to complete, with users receiving notifications in the app once they gain access.
The new feature introduces five unique voices and supports more than 50 languages, enabling users to hear responses in different accents. Advanced Voice also allows for customized instructions, giving users the option to personalize how the AI interacts through voice, making the experience more tailored to individual preferences.
However, this feature is not currently available in the EU, UK, Switzerland, Iceland, Norway, and Liechtenstein.
This rollout comes after several significant updates to the ChatGPT app, including Custom Instructions, Memory, and improved voice accents. Earlier this year, OpenAI released GPT-4o during its Spring Update event, which impressed with its "omni" capabilities across text, vision, and audio. Demos featuring real-time translation, a coding assistant, AI tutoring, a friendly companion, a poet, and a singer garnered widespread attention, but the Advanced Voice feature was not launched at that time.
