Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan Engages with Industry Experts to Foster Startup Innovation in Emerging and Deep Tech Sectors

The Tamil Nadu Technology Hub (iTNT), part of the state's Information Technology & Digital Services (IT&DS) Department, held the iTNT Industry Conclave in Chennai on Friday, September 6. The event, with Dr. Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, Minister for IT&DS, as the chief guest, focused on the role of corporations in fostering innovation in the Emerging and Deep Tech sectors.

Dr. Rajan introduced the slogan "Innovate in Tamil Nadu (IN2TN)," calling it a strategic action plan to promote innovation and entrepreneurship in the state. He emphasized that innovation and startups are key to achieving the Chief Minister’s vision of making Tamil Nadu a trillion-dollar economy. To support this vision, the state is working on drafting India's first-ever Tamil Nadu Deep Tech Policy. He also encouraged industries to strengthen their involvement with iTNT Hub through partnerships and CSR initiatives.

During the conclave, cash prizes totaling Rs. 4.5 lakh were awarded to the top three winners of the iTNT "Unlock The Future Innovation Challenge," which attracted over 500 startup and innovator teams from the deep tech space. Healthcare startup Vyuhaa Med Data won for its AI and IoT solution for real-time data analysis, Sustainability startup Daijo was recognized for its resource consumption reduction solution, and Climatequant Tech won for its work on supply chain transparency and efficiency.

Thiru. Kumar Jayant, I.A.S., Additional Chief Secretary of IT&DS, outlined plans to support these winning innovations in becoming deep tech enterprises. Earlier in the day, a roundtable chaired by Mr. Jayant and co-chaired by Ms. Vanitha Venugopal, CEO of iTNT Hub, discussed the upcoming Tamil Nadu Deep Tech Policy, announced during the state assembly’s Demand for Grants session in June.
