MEET IMAN ALLANA, FOUNDER BOLLYGLOW, WHO IS EMPOWERING THE BEAUTY SECTOR, ONE LIPSTICK AT A TIME FROM HER OFFICE, DESIGNED BY GAURI KHAN

-

Fashion maverick and entrepreneur Iman Allana, in an interview with YSWeekender, shares insights about her daily skincare routine, her definition of fashion, and how her company blends Indian pop culture with beauty aesthetics. Iman, the daughter of Dubai-based billionaire couple Irfan and Lubna Allana, holds a Master's degree in Luxury Brand Management from Regents University and is the founder of the Mumbai-based beauty brand Bollyglow.

Established in 2018, Bollyglow is a realization of Iman's childhood dream of empowering women through business ventures. "Being exposed to business from a young age has been a blessing. My earliest memories of 'office' involve playing there after school and skipping class to attend important meetings," reminisces the 26-year-old founder.

Driven by curiosity and ambition, Iman pursued various short educational courses, including a stint at Cambridge University to learn about 'Silicon Valley and Startup Culture' and obtaining a 'Vogue certificate' from the Conde Nast College, which paved her way to entrepreneurship. Iman launched Bollyglow in August 2018.

Despite coming from a large family business background, Iman mentions that her parents have been very supportive. "It's a significant achievement as I am the first woman in the sixth generation of our family to run a business," she says.

Bollyglow, true to its name, is a blend of Bollywood and Beauty. The brand's cinematic inspiration is evident in everything from packaging to visual merchandising and product names, such as the 'Behind the Scenes' eyeshadow palette and the soon-to-be-launched 'Filmi Foundation' range.
