Mahindra Group, a leading player in India's automotive sector, has announced the establishment of a dedicated AI unit aimed at integrating artificial intelligence across its various business operations. This strategic initiative will centralize AI efforts, creating a division at the corporate level to support all group companies, including Mahindra & Mahindra (automotive), Mahindra Lifespace (real estate), and Mahindra Holidays (hospitality).
Bhuwan Lodha, who previously led digital operations within Mahindra’s automotive segment, will head this new AI division. “We have created the AI division at the group level to enhance the success of our businesses through AI,” Lodha said, as reported by PTI.
Initially, the division will draw AI talent from within the group’s companies. “AI projects have often been treated as side hustles by various IT teams. We are now making them mainstream,” Lodha noted, emphasizing the need to consolidate AI initiatives.
The AI division will collaborate with Tech Mahindra, the group’s IT services branch, which has been actively developing AI models in India, including Project Indus. This collaboration aims to leverage domain expertise and global innovations from startups and universities. “Our objective is to create effective AI solutions tailored for all the group companies,” Lodha remarked, highlighting the importance of customized solutions across sectors like automotive, real estate, and hospitality.
Additionally, the new AI division will focus on talent development, providing clear career paths for AI specialists. Lodha emphasized that it will ensure engaging work opportunities across various sectors, thereby enhancing the group's AI capabilities.
