Bhavish Aggarwal, the founder of Ola, has revealed that his artificial intelligence startup, Krutrim, secured $50 million in funding, achieving a valuation of $1 billion. This makes Krutrim the first AI startup in India to attain unicorn status. Launched just last month, Krutrim has garnered significant investment, with Matrix Partners India being one of the contributors to the funding round. Notably, the startup has reached the billion-dollar valuation within a month of its inception as a prominent player in the large language AI model space.
Bhavish Aggarwal's Krutrim is not only focused on AI development but is also working on establishing data centers across India to create a robust supercomputer ecosystem. The company plans to introduce a beta version of its chatbot next month, along with releasing APIs for developers and enterprises in the coming months. Matrix Partners, a key investor in Aggarwal's other ventures, Ola and Ola Electric, is also involved in supporting Krutrim.
Expressing his excitement, Aggarwal stated, "We are thrilled to announce the successful closure of our first funding round, which not only validates the potential of Krutrim’s innovative AI solutions but also underscores the confidence investors have in our ability to drive meaningful change out of India for the world."
