On July 17, Google announced its collaboration with the Ministry of Electronics and IT's (MeitY) Startup Hub to train and support 10,000 Indian startups in AI, aiming to tap into India's rapidly growing AI developer ecosystem. This initiative, revealed at Google I/O Connect Bengaluru, includes AI-focused programming and curriculum through Appscale Academy and Startup School, along with up to $350,000 in Google Cloud credits for eligible startups.

Additionally, Google is launching a nationwide Gen AI Hackathon and a three-month immersive GenAI Exchange, in partnership with MeitY Startup Hub and Startup India, running from August to October. A three-day bootcamp, Solve for India Startup Bootcamp | AI Edition, is planned for September to assist early-stage startups in sectors like healthcare, climate change, agriculture, cybersecurity, and digital public infrastructure.

Google is also providing developers in India access to Gemma 2 and a 2 million token context window on the Gemini 1.5 Pro model, previously announced at the May Google I/O developer conference. These tools enhance a model's data processing capacity.

Furthermore, Google introduced IndicGenBench, a multilingual benchmark for evaluating language generation across 29 Indian languages, including Hindi, Kannada, Bengali, and others. The company also announced India-specific pricing for Google Maps platform developers, with reductions up to 70% on most APIs.
