Flipkart's 'Minutes' Expands Into Delhi's Quick Commerce Market Following Bengaluru Launch

Walmart-owned Flipkart has extended its quick commerce service, 'Minutes,' to Delhi after initially launching in parts of Bengaluru, including HSR Layout and Bellandur, last month. The service promises delivery of groceries, electronics, smartphones, and other products within 8-16 minutes, similar to the timelines offered by competitors like Zepto, Blinkit (Zomato), and Swiggy Instamart.

Available through the main Flipkart app, this rapid delivery service allows users to cancel or refuse orders if their expectations aren’t met—an option not offered by other competitors. This feature seems to be part of Flipkart's strategy to attract more users.

In April, Flipkart appointed Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Group Head of Supply Chain, to oversee its quick commerce operations. The company is also planning to open 100 dark stores (small warehouses for quicker deliveries) during the upcoming festive season to further bolster its quick commerce strategy.

Financially, Flipkart’s B2C arm saw a 42% year-on-year increase in operating revenue to INR 14,845.8 Cr in FY23, while its losses dropped by 9% to INR 4,026.5 Cr compared to INR 4,419.5 Cr in FY22.
