Digantara, a space technology startup, introduces a facility spanning 25,000 square feet in Bengaluru.

On Friday, Digantara, a spacetech startup specializing in space situational awareness, unveiled its global headquarters, featuring a command and control center along with a cleanroom. "Our new facilities not only enhance our capacity for innovation in developing state-of-the-art sensors but also establish us as a platform provider for streamlining space operations," remarked Sharma.

The startup, backed by Peak XV Partners, currently employs 45 staff members, according to cofounder and CEO Anirudh Sharma.

The inauguration event in the late evening was attended by prominent figures such as Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman S Somanath and space situational awareness experts from 10 countries.

The command and control center will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing space traffic, ensuring the safety and sustainability of satellite operations worldwide for Digantara's clientele.

According to Sharma, Digantara has already secured two international clients and partnerships with defense-related government agencies in India.

The company plans to deploy a total of 40 satellites, facilitated by its Space-Mission Assurance Platform (Space-MAP), which utilizes multi-modal data pooling.

Digantara also operates STARS (Space Threat Assessment and Response Suite), a proprietary military and defense suite aimed at enhancing national sovereign space capabilities.

In February, the startup secured $2 million in funding from Aditya Birla Ventures and Sidbi Venture Capital, the venture capital arms of Aditya Birla Group and the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) respectively. This funding round concluded the startup's Series A stage, bringing the total raised to $12 million. Previously, in June 2023, Digantara raised $10 million led by Peak XV Partners.

Founded by Sharma, Rahul Rawat, and Tanveer Ahmed in 2018, Digantara had previously secured seed capital of $2.5 million from Kalaari Capital in July 2021.
