Devnagri, a Gen-AI company specializing in tailoring business communication for non-English speakers, has raised an undisclosed sum in a Pre-Series A funding round led by Inflection Point Ventures. The new capital will be used for marketing, sales, technology scaling, R&D, infrastructure, and administrative costs.

Devnagri aims to hyper-localize business communication, making it more accessible for non-English speakers by utilizing advanced Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Statistical Language Modeling (SLM) models to personalize content. Their technology integrates seamlessly with both private and government infrastructures, catering to the diverse linguistic needs of various audiences to improve communication and engagement.

The company was co-founded by Nakul Kundra, who holds an MBA in Marketing & Finance and has a strong background in business strategy, and Himanshu Sharma, an MBA in Marketing and skilled coder with a blend of technical and business expertise. Their combined skill sets and experience drive Devnagri's innovative growth.

Mitesh Shah, Co-Founder of Inflection Point Ventures, highlighted the significance of Devnagri’s mission: “With over 700 languages spoken in India, translating accurately while considering context and cultural nuances is challenging. These issues affect communication, business growth, and user experience. Devnagri’s AI-powered human translation platform addresses these challenges by ensuring precise translations, context-awareness, and localization, facilitating seamless communication across Indian languages.”

Devnagri achieves top BLEU scores in Indian languages and is making significant inroads into the Indian language ecosystem. By expanding from NLP products to GenAI and SLM, they enable customers to personalize content, addressing the urgent need for localized communication.

Devnagri’s innovative solutions allow businesses to efficiently scale operations in Tier II and Tier III cities, broadening their reach and engagement cost-effectively, and helping them enter new markets across India. Nakul Kundra, Co-Founder of Devnagri, said, “Effective communication is key for businesses to attract and engage their audiences. We aim to create a hyper-local communication layer that allows businesses to communicate in their customers’ languages. We are also moving towards offering private cloud infrastructure to enterprises and government departments, ensuring they retain content ownership while training their LLMs/SLMs with each customer interaction. ‘Privatization of Business Communication’ is essential.”

Devnagri has received numerous prestigious awards in India and globally, including the TieCon Award 2024 in San Francisco, the Graham Bell Award 2023, a feature in Shark Tank India 2022, and recognition as NASSCOM’s Emerging NLP Startup of India.

The opportunity market for Devnagri is projected to reach $100 billion globally by 2030, with $53 billion in India, growing at a CAGR of 6.7%. As the language industry expands, it will create sub-industries and transform communication methods for everyone.
