CCI Collaborates with MDIS to Conduct Market Research on AI's Impact on Competition

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has partnered with the Management Development Institute Society (MDIS) to conduct a market study on the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on competition. This collaboration was formalized following a request for proposal (RFP) issued in April 2024, with an agreement signed on September 9, 2024. The study will address six main objectives, including examining competition issues in AI markets and analyzing existing regulatory frameworks in India and other key regions. It will explore the role of AI in areas such as pricing, mergers and acquisitions, and personalized services, assessing how these applications can impact competition, either benefiting or harming consumer welfare. The study's results will help shape India's regulatory approach, aiming to balance AI innovation with fair market practices.
