Bhavish Aggarwal's company, Krutrim, is gearing up to design and launch its first AI chip by 2026.

Bhavish Aggarwal, the co-founder and CEO of Ola Cabs, launched the AI startup Krutrim in December of last year. On Thursday, the company announced plans to design, build, and launch its first AI chip by 2026. The initial family of chips, named Bodhi for artificial intelligence, Sarv for general computing, and Ojas for edge computing, are currently in development. The company also revealed that Bodhi-II is slated for release in 2028. As part of this effort, Krutrim has formed strategic partnerships with global chip manufacturers Arm and Untether AI.Krutrim also announced plans to increase its data center capacity from the current 20 MW to 1 GW by 2028. A few months ago, Aggarwal migrated Ola’s workloads from Microsoft Azure to Krutrim Cloud, the company's own cloud platform. At an event, Aggarwal mentioned that with the launch of over 50 new services, Krutrim AI is now ready to support most applications needed by Indian developers.

The company stated that Krutrim Cloud will expand its offerings to include AI models, AI platforms, data platforms, infrastructure domains, and AI applications. Aggarwal highlighted that Ola Cabs and Ola Electric are already using Krutrim AI. He also noted that over 25,000 developers have utilized Krutrim Cloud, and more than 10 million users have engaged with Krutrim’s chat app. Since its launch in early 2024, Krutrim products have handled 250 billion API calls, generating over 1 trillion tokens in the last six months. Additionally, the company announced that it will offer cloud services worth ₹100 crore for free until Diwali.
