r. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, as well as MoS in the PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, announced plans for the development of Basohli in Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir. He declared that Basohli is slated to be transformed into a Heritage Town and a hub for Aroma Start-ups in the near future. Dr. Singh addressed a public gathering in Basohli, where he highlighted the historical neglect faced by the region under previous administrations, resulting in a visible deficit in development, particularly in the Kandi area.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi since 2014, there has been a concerted effort to integrate previously marginalized areas like Basohli into the mainstream developmental agenda, aiming to eliminate the historical disparities. Dr. Singh reiterated the government's commitment to realizing Prime Minister Modi's vision of a developed India and a flourishing Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on empowering the disadvantaged sectors including the poor, farmers, youth, and women through various welfare initiatives. He underscored the mantra of 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas' (Development for All) as the guiding principle of the government.

Dr. Singh also highlighted significant infrastructure projects such as the Atal Setu, North India’s first Cable-Stayed Bridge, and J&K’s first inter-State bridge at Keerian-Gandyal, which have been instrumental in the region's development. He emphasized that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, long-stalled projects like the Shahpur-Kandi Project have been revived, addressing critical needs like irrigation and agricultural development.

Furthermore, Dr. Singh encouraged the adoption of the Aroma Mission, inspired by initiatives in neighboring states like Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, suggesting that Basohli, being the birthplace of the Purple Revolution in India, should embrace lavender cultivation to significantly boost the income of local farmers.
