AstroTalk, an online astrology platform, has secured Rs 78.3 crore in an extension of its Series A funding round from existing investors Left Lane Capital and Elev8 Capital. The company's board passed a special resolution to issue 5,067 compulsory convertible preference shares to raise the funds, according to regulatory filings accessed from the RoC. In this tranche, Left Lane Capital invested Rs 58.3 crore, while Elev8 Capital contributed Rs 20 crore. This appears to be part of a larger round, with AstroTalk reportedly in discussions to raise $30 million.
To date, AstroTalk has raised a total of Rs 172 crore, including Rs 166 crore ($20 million) from its Series A round in February. Founded by Puneet Gupta and Anmol Jain in 2017, AstroTalk provides online consultations with astrologers via internet, call, and chat, and claims to have 13,000 experts including astrologers, tarot readers, numerologists, and Vastu consultants. Users can seek advice on topics such as marriage, love life, career, and health, paying per minute for one-on-one consultations, which account for 90% of the company’s revenue.
AstroTalk, backed by Left Lane Capital, showed robust financial performance in FY23, with revenue increasing by 146% to Rs 283 crore and profits rising by 41.7% to Rs 8.5 crore. Based on the current average revenue run rate, the company is projected to end FY24 with Rs 650 crore in revenue and Rs 100 crore in profit. The audited financial results for FY24 are yet to be filed.
