Apple discontinued iTunes some time ago, but the software is still available on Windows. Recently, the company released an important security update for iTunes 12.13.3 aimed at Windows users. According to Apple, the update addresses a vulnerability that allowed local attackers to gain elevated privileges, which has now been resolved with better restrictions.
While Apple continues to release security updates for iTunes on Windows, no new features have been introduced in some time. Earlier this year, the company officially launched standalone Apple Music and Apple TV apps for Windows after beta testing them. A separate app for managing iOS devices, such as backing up and restoring software, is also available. However, there is still no Apple Podcasts app for Windows, leaving iTunes as the only option for that service.
If you have iTunes on your Windows PC, ensure it's up to date. You can check for updates by opening iTunes, navigating to the Help menu, and selecting "Check for Updates." If you downloaded iTunes through the Microsoft Store, updates will install automatically.
