During the ongoing third season of Shark Tank India, Dilkhush, co-founder of the taxi startup RodBez, faced inquiries from OYO CEO Ritesh Agarwal regarding his background and his leadership role in a company generating ₹8 lakh per month in commission payments.
The young entrepreneur revealed that his journey began when he was rejected for a peon position, leading him to decide to embark on his own entrepreneurial path. Dilkhush recounted how familial responsibilities thrust upon him at the age of 16, due to his father's decision to marry him off, motivated him to provide for his family.
Sharing his experience of being turned down for the peon job, Dilkhush recounted how he was rejected because he couldn't identify the Apple logo, which led him to abandon the idea of seeking traditional employment. He then learned driving from his father and started working as a driver.
Dilkhush elaborated on his entrepreneurial journey, detailing his previous ventures and the success he achieved, including earning a commission of ₹8 lakh and securing investment for his taxi service app, RodBez, which was valued at ₹4 crore. He also mentioned his self-taught coding skills acquired from online tutorials and how he utilized them to develop the user interface of his app.
Impressed by Dilkhush's clarity and determination, Shark Tank India judge Ritesh, along with Veneta Singh, extended him an offer of ₹20 lakh for 5% equity and ₹30 lakh at 12% interest on debt. While another judge suggested seeking funding from regional investors, Dilkhush ultimately accepted Ritesh and Veneta's offer.
