AUS court has found Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) guilty of misappropriating trade secrets and has imposed a penalty of approximately USD 194 million, according to a regulatory filing on Friday. However, TCS stated that it has strong arguments against the judgement and is taking the necessary steps to protect its interests through a review or appeal process.

The ruling was issued in a case brought by Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), now merged with DXC Technology Company (DXC), in the United States District Court, Northern District of Texas, Dallas Division. The court determined that TCS is liable to CSC for USD 56,151,583 in compensatory damages and USD 112,303,166 in exemplary damages. Additionally, TCS is liable for USD 25,773,576.60 in prejudgment interest.

The court also imposed certain injunctions and other reliefs against TCS. Despite the judgement, TCS stated that it believes the ruling will not have a significant adverse impact on its financials and operations.
