At the 'Transcend India 2024' conclave at Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, experts highlighted the vast opportunities for Indian IT companies and startups in the AI sector, emphasizing the need to update academic curricula to leverage this potential. The event, organized by NASSCOM FAYA:80, Kerala's largest tech think-tank, in collaboration with the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) and the Group of Technology Companies (GTech), was the first in a series aimed at helping the IT industry and state agencies refine their AI strategies.

Anoop Ambika, CEO of KSUM, noted that numerous job opportunities will emerge from the AI models developed by major corporations, enhancing career prospects and data generation. He emphasized the importance of retraining AI models for specific contexts. Saji Gopinath, Vice-Chancellor of the Digital University of Kerala, stressed the necessity of a flexible curriculum to meet diverse needs, asserting that AI can significantly enhance teaching effectiveness.

Jibu Elias, Mozilla Responsible Computing Fellow, argued for equipping the next generation with a broad set of skills and creativity, rather than merely producing low-cost tech labor. Sunny Gupta, Senior Director at Viacom 18 & JioCinema, called for robust projects to showcase tech talent. The session was moderated by Jayasankar Prasad, director of the DC School of Management and Technology.
