Chennai: T M Anbarasan, the MSME minister, highlighted Tamil Nadu's remarkable growth in the startup ecosystem since the DMK assumed power. He mentioned that within the last two years, the number of registered startups in TN has surged from approximately 2,300 to over 7,600, with more than half of them being led by women. This was expressed during an event organized by StartupTN to introduce a range of new initiatives.
Among these initiatives was the introduction and distribution of new startup smartcards to entrepreneurs, offering discounted rates on various products and services tailored for startups in their early stages. The state's primary entrepreneurship agency has collaborated with multiple partners to make these benefits available.
Furthermore, sanction orders totaling 9 crore were granted as equity investments to four startups led by entrepreneurs from SC and ST communities through the Tamil Nadu SC/ST Startup Fund. Additionally, the minister unveiled products and services from 20 women-led startups as part of the women launchpad initiative, aiming to assist them in gaining traction in both offline and online markets.
